What Francophone School Is Coming to Airdrie?

Conseil scolaire FrancoSud is building a new grad 7–12 Francophone school in NW Airdrie’s Reunion community. The school will accommodate up to 450 students and is expected to be complete in 2027. It will include a shared gymnasium under a 30-year joint use agreement with the City of Airdrie, making the space available for community drop-in recreation, fitness classes, and other programming.

Well, if you’ve been watching Airdrie’s northwest grow over the last couple of years, here’s another sign the city’s infrastructure is keeping pace with it.

A brand new Francophone school is under construction in the Reunion community in northwest Airdrie. Construction is already underway on-site, and the school is planned to be complete by 2027.

What Is Conseil Scolaire FrancoSud?

FrancoSud is one of Alberta’s francophone public school boards. They operate French-language schools across southern Alberta for students from francophone families — meaning the primary language of instruction is French.

This is a public school option, not a private or fee-for-service program. If French is spoken at home or you’re looking for French-language education in Airdrie, this is worth knowing about. FrancoSud already serves the broader Calgary region, and this new school expands their footprint into northwest Airdrie specifically.
