Well, this one’s for the painters and the weekend warriors.
A new store called Countryside Decorating just opened in Airdrie’s East Lake Industrial area — and it’s a Dulux paint retailer. That means Airdrie now has a local source for one of the most popular professional-grade paint brands in Canada.
Brad flagged this one in a recent short — and for a lot of Airdrie homeowners, DIYers, and contractors, this is genuinely useful news.
What Is Countryside Decorating?
Countryside Decorating is a decorating supply store that opened its doors last week in Airdrie’s East Lake Industrial area. It’s a Dulux-authorized retailer, which means you can get the full Dulux paint line there — the same brand you’d find at specialty paint shops in Calgary.
Here’s what you’ll find in-store:
Dulux paint — interior and exterior lines
Painting accessories — brushes, rollers, trays, tape, and the rest of your toolkit
Home décor items — a curated selection of décor beyond just paint supplies
It’s not a big-box experience. It’s a specialty shop — which typically means better product knowledge, better selection within the Dulux lineup, and staff who actually know the difference between an eggshell and a satin finish.
Where Exactly Is It?
The store is in Airdrie’s East Lake Industrial area — and here’s a detail worth knowing: it’s in the same shopping complex as Saffron Pottery Studio and a NAPA auto parts store.
That’s a convenient cluster if you’ve got projects on the go. Pick up your paint, swing by NAPA for supplies, and yes — even take a pottery class if the mood strikes.
East Lake has been growing as a destination for this kind of local, specialized retail. It’s not glamorous, but it’s practical — and that’s exactly what Airdrie needs more of.
Why Does This Matter for Airdrie Homeowners?
If you’ve ever tried to match a paint colour, you know how important it is to buy from a store where someone actually understands paint.
Dulux is a premium Canadian brand. It’s widely used by professional painters and trades people — not just DIY hobbyists. Having a local Dulux retailer means:
You don’t have to drive to Calgary for specialty paint
You’re supporting a local Airdrie business
You have a resource for product advice, not just product
And for homeowners thinking about refreshing rooms before listing their home — or after moving in — this is a useful addition to the local landscape.
Interior paint refreshes are consistently one of the highest-ROI improvements you can make before listing. A gallon of quality paint and a weekend can meaningfully impact how a buyer perceives a home on first walk-through. Having access to a local Dulux supplier makes that a little easier to get done.
Airdrie’s Local Business Scene Keeps Growing
Countryside Decorating is part of a broader trend that’s been accelerating over the past year. Airdrie is no longer just a bedroom community where people drive to Calgary for everything.
In the last few months alone, we’ve seen:
Ahadu Coffee Roasters launch a new coffee trailer on Centre Ave
La Costeñita open Airdrie’s first dedicated Mexican and Latin food market
Saffron Pottery Studio expand into Airdrie with their second location
HomeSense set an October 13th opening date
None of these are big chains or anchor tenants. They’re the kind of independent, locally-run businesses that fill in the gaps and make a city feel like it’s actually living and breathing — not just sprawling.
For buyers considering Airdrie, this kind of local amenity growth matters. People don’t just buy a house — they buy into a community. And a community with good local shops, good food, and good services is easier to sell on than one that doesn’t have those things yet.
Go Check It Out
If you’re in the middle of a home project, or you’ve been putting off that paint refresh because you didn’t want to make a Calgary run, Countryside Decorating is worth a visit.
Support a local business, get your Dulux, and tell them what you thought. Brad specifically asked viewers in the short to let him know if they check it out — so this one has some community momentum behind it.
It’s the kind of opening that’s easy to miss in the scroll — but worth knowing about.
If you’ve got questions about what’s happening in Airdrie — or if you’re thinking about buying or selling — I’m always happy to chat. Call or text me anytime.
