Well, here's a welcome addition to the morning routine.

Ahadu Coffee Roasters has been quietly building something special in Airdrie — and now they've taken it mobile. Their new coffee trailer is parked at 217 Centre Ave W, right in front of the Alberta Precision Laboratories building, and they're open Monday through Saturday, 7am to 1pm.

If you haven't heard of Ahadu before, here's the quick version: they source, roast, and brew organic Ethiopian coffee — small batch, high quality. Their branding draws on traditional Ethiopian coffee culture, including the Jebena, the iconic Ethiopian clay coffee pot. It's not a chain. It's a local Airdrie family business doing something that actually stands out.

What Makes Ahadu Different

There are a few coffee spots in Airdrie. Ahadu is doing something different from most of them.

They focus specifically on Ethiopian coffee — which is where coffee as we know it originated. Their beans are sourced directly from Ethiopian highlands, organic, and roasted in small batches. That means fresher, more distinctive flavour than what you get from a large commercial roaster.

The mobile trailer format is also worth noting. Rather than a fixed café, they can show up where people actually are — commuters, local events, community gatherings. It's a model that works well for a city the size of Airdrie, and it lets them stay connected to the community in a hands-on way.

Their regular spot at Centre Ave W is convenient if you're heading through downtown Airdrie in the morning. And if you follow their Instagram at @ahaduyyc, you can track when they're at special events or alternate locations around the city.

What to Expect

Hours: Monday–Saturday, 7am to 1pm at 217 Centre Ave W, Airdrie — in front of Alberta Precision Laboratories.

Check their Instagram before you head out if you're going out of your way, since the trailer does move for special events. They're active on social and generally post updates when their schedule changes.

If you try it, I'd genuinely like to know how it is — drop me a message.

Airdrie keeps growing in the right ways. Between Ahadu's coffee trailer, the new La Costeñita Mexican and Latin food market that just opened on Main St, and spots like Saffron Pottery Studio over in the east end, the local business scene is getting genuinely interesting. That's good for the community, and it's good for the city's long-term value as a place to live.
