Well, Airdrie just got another entertainment option on the way — and this one's for the golfers.
Back Nine Golf is currently building out their newest location in South Point Village, in the southwest part of the city. If you've driven past that area lately, you may have already spotted the construction happening. Here's what we know so far.
What Is Back Nine Golf?
Back Nine Golf is a Canadian golf simulator franchise. They currently operate six locations across Canada, and Airdrie will be their third location in Alberta. The brand is built around high-quality simulator experiences that you can access on your own schedule.
Their facilities use Full Swing Pro 2.0 simulators — the same technology favoured by many PGA Tour pros. This isn't a basic screen-and-net setup. Full Swing simulators are known for high accuracy and a wide range of courses and play modes, so whether you're grinding on your swing or just having fun with a group, the technology supports both.
The concept is built around flexible access. Their locations offer 24/7 entry — meaning you're not boxed into traditional business hours. Early morning rounds before work, late-night sessions after the kids are in bed — the facility is designed to fit around your schedule, not the other way around.
The Airdrie Location — South Point Village, SW
The Back Nine Golf location is going into South Point Village, a well-established commercial area in Airdrie's southwest. They're currently in active build-out, which means the interior fit-out is underway — but the doors are not open yet.
South Point Village already has solid retail and service traffic, so adding an indoor golf simulator fits naturally into the mix. For residents in the SW — Windsong, South Windsong, and the surrounding neighbourhoods — this will be a short drive from home.
As of October 2026, no official opening date has been announced. Based on the visible build-out progress, they appear to be actively working on the space. Stay tuned.
Members vs. Non-Members — How Access Works
One of the first questions people ask about simulator facilities: do you need a membership to get in?
Back Nine Golf operates differently by location. Some of their existing facilities are members-only. The Airdrie location looks like it'll be open to both — members and non-members. Members will get priority when booking simulator bays. Non-members can book whatever availability remains.
If you plan to use a simulator consistently — keeping your game sharp through an Airdrie winter, practicing regularly — a membership likely makes sense. If you're more casual or just want to try it out, the non-member option means you're not locked into anything upfront.
Why This Matters for Airdrie
Airdrie doesn't have a golf course within city limits — so for residents who want to play or practice, the options have traditionally meant a drive. Indoor simulator facilities change that equation and give golfers a real year-round option without leaving the city.
And Back Nine Golf isn't the only simulator coming to the city. Pour Decisions Billiards is also opening inside Ron Ebbesen Arena, bringing pool tables and a golf simulator of their own to a completely different part of the city. Two simulator options, two different neighbourhoods — that's a solid addition for a city this size.
This is part of a broader pattern: Airdrie keeps adding the kind of entertainment and recreation options that used to require a trip into Calgary. That matters for quality of life here — and it matters for what the city looks like to people considering a move.
When Will Back Nine Golf Open in Airdrie?
There's no official opening date as of this post. The build-out is in progress, and they appear to be actively working on the space — but no public timeline has been announced.
