Airdrie's NE Regional Park — Phase 1B Complete (Fall 2026 Update)

What Just Got Completed at Airdrie’s Northeast Regional Park?

Phase 1B of Airdrie’s Northeast Regional Park is done. The city finished the West Entry Plaza — a large concrete pad with decorative design details — along with a new washroom building and additional benches and picnic tables. Phase 1A (the walking loop and gravel parking lot) was already in place. Phase 2, which adds more trails and natural gathering spaces, is still in the design stage. The bigger amenities like sports courts, a BMX track, a skate park, and disc golf are still many years away.

If you’ve been watching northeast Airdrie grow, the Northeast Regional Park is one of the infrastructure projects worth tracking.

Phase 1B just wrapped up this fall — and while it’s not the headline-grabbing stuff yet, it’s a real step forward in building out what’s planned to be one of Airdrie’s major regional parks.

Here’s what’s been completed, what’s coming next, and what it means for families buying in that part of the city.

What Was Just Finished: Phase 1B

Phase 1A gave the park its walking loop and a gravel parking lot — the foundation.

Phase 1B built on that with three key additions:

  • West Entry Plaza — a large concrete pad at the park entrance with decorative design elements worked into it

  • Washroom building — a proper facility that makes the park usable for longer visits with kids

  • Benches and picnic tables — more spots to sit and enjoy the space

It’s not flashy on its own, but the washroom building alone is a major quality-of-life upgrade. A park without washrooms is a park most families won’t use for more than a quick loop. That problem is now solved.

Phase 1B is complete as of fall 2026.

What’s Coming Next: Phase 2

The city is moving into the design phase for Phase 2. Based on the phasing map, Phase 2 covers the larger northeastern section of the park — the darker green areas on the city’s plan.

Phase 2 will focus on:

  • Expanding the walking path network through more of the green space

  • Adding natural gathering areas — more informal spaces for families

There’s no confirmed timeline yet. The city is still working through the design process, so construction on Phase 2 hasn’t been scheduled publicly. Watch Brad explain the Phase 2 plan at 0:27

What’s Still Years Away

Here’s the honest reality: the amenities most people get excited about — the sports courts, BMX track, skate park, and disc golf course — are still multiple phases out.

We’re talking years, not months.

That’s worth knowing if you’re buying in northeast Airdrie partly because of this park. You’re making a long-term bet on the city following through on its plan. Based on how Airdrie has handled other major projects — like the Southwest Recreation Centre, now in detailed design with a 2030 opening target — that’s a reasonable bet. But it requires patience.

Why This Matters for Buyers in Northeast Airdrie

Parks like this aren’t just nice to have — they’re part of what makes a neighbourhood worth living in long-term.

Here’s what the NE Regional Park progress signals for buyers looking at northeast Airdrie:

  • The city is investing in the area. Infrastructure is being built in phases, but the commitment is real.

  • Long-term liveability is improving. Once the park is fully built out, it will add significant recreational value for families in northeast communities.

  • Today’s prices reflect incomplete amenities. Northeast communities near the park are generally priced lower than mature, park-adjacent neighbourhoods. That gap typically closes as the area develops.

Families buying in northeast Airdrie now are getting in ahead of that trajectory.
