Windsong and South Windsong are located in the deep southwest of Airdrie, currently the most southwest part. This is a relatively new community that provides everything from townhomes to larger estate homes.
One thing that makes the area unique, is that none of the townhomes have no condo fees associated with them - meaning you have full control and responsibility over your property. This makes an excellent selling point for buyers and provides resale value for the future.
Homes started being built by Mattamy Homes in 2009 and the newest homes are still being built today. You can purchase a townhome in the area today for around $300,000 - $450,000 and a detached home anywhere from $400,000 - $800,000.
Another thing that attracts people to this neighbourhood is its close proximity to Chinook Winds Park. Being the biggest park in Airdrie, with over 55 acres of amenities including: 8 baseball diamonds, a spray park, a skate park, playgrounds, beach volleyball, an ice hockey rink, sledding hills, a concession, and much more. Not to mention the many open field areas kids can run around in or places to enjoy a picnic. This feature draws a ton of young families to the neighbourhood, making it easy to meet other people and make friends.

Shopping enthusiasts with definitely be happy with the community of Windsong, because it's very close to various shopping centres. Coopers Promenade is just across 8th Street, which features over 30 stores ranging from big brands like Save On Foods, Macdonalds, and a Shell Gas Station to smaller companies like Balzac Craft Brewing, Seven Saints Fashion Boutique, and The Pizza Shop.
If you're looking for more, you're just a short drive down 40th Ave to Sierra Springs Shopping Centre, which offers about 40 different stores including some bigger names like Home Depot and Walmart. Being located in Windsong also means the shortest distance in Airdrie to Costco and Cross Iron Mills Mall where you can find hundreds of stores, popular restaurants, and cafes.
As for schools, Windsong Heights School is situated right inside the neighbourhood and serves Kindergarten to Grade 8 students of Windsong, Southwards, and Prairie Springs. High School Students in grade 9 to 12 will attend W.H. Croxford High School which is a walkable distance away at the corner of Yankee Valley Boulevard and 8th Street.
Some an exciting additions coming to the area are the new rec centre and high school set to be built just west of South Windsong. The land has been purchased by the city and planning is well on its way, though we don't have any specific timeline details just yet. Once complete, you can bet that homeowners will see a positive impact on their resale value due to being so close to the new rec centre.
Windsong and South Windsong seem to be the best fit for facilities with young children who want to be close to family amenities and still have great access to the city of Calgary.
