Is There an Outdoor Pool in Airdrie?
Yes — and it's finally under construction. The Wildflower community pool and amenities area broke ground in August 2026, with an expected opening sometime in 2027. This will be Airdrie's first outdoor community pool, and it's a private amenity exclusive to residents of Wildflower and their guests.

Drone footage shows an excavator already on site, survey stakes in the ground, and the initial digging underway. This one's been talked about for a while — it's good to see it actually moving.
Now, before you start planning a pool day — this isn't a city-run public pool. It's a private amenity for Wildflower residents only. But if you live there, or you're thinking about buying in Wildflower, this is a big part of what you're buying into.
What's Included in the Wildflower Amenities Area
This isn't just a pool. The full Wildflower community amenities area is shaping up to include:
Outdoor pool
Hot tub
Wellness studio
Sports court
Skating rink
Private green space
That's a genuinely impressive list for a single neighbourhood. Nothing like this currently exists in any other Airdrie community — which makes Wildflower a pretty unique option if you're factoring amenities into your decision.
Airdrie has been adding a lot of outdoor recreation options lately — Rocky Mountain Mini Golf just opened at Apple Creek, and batting cages are coming to Fletcher Park. But those are public amenities anyone in the city can use. The Wildflower pool is something different — it's community-specific, and that's part of what's driving interest in the neighbourhood.
What This Means If You're Thinking About Buying in Wildflower
Private community amenities like this come with a trade-off: you get access to great shared infrastructure, and in exchange, there's a homeowners association involved. That means HOA fees and some rules to follow.
Whether that's the right fit depends on what you're looking for. Some buyers love the idea of a community pool and skating rink steps from their front door. Others would rather skip the association and keep things simple.

When Does the Wildflower Pool Open?
The target opening is sometime in 2027. Construction just started in August 2026, so there's still a ways to go. But with the excavator in and the survey stakes set, it's moving.
Worth keeping in mind if you're buying now — you'll be in the community before the pool opens, which some buyers see as a bonus (you get in at today's prices before the amenity is fully delivered).
