New Traffic Lights Coming to Sierra Springs Starting March 16, 2026

Road construction season is back in Airdrie. New traffic lights are being installed at the Sierra Springs intersection near the Co-Op, car wash, and Tim Hortons. Work began Monday, March 16, 2026, and drivers in the area can expect some lane closures and delays during construction.

Where Are the New Lights Going?

The new traffic signals are being installed at the intersection that gives access to the Sierra Springs Co-Op shopping area, the car wash and storage facility, and serves as one of the main entry and exit points for the Tim Hortons on that strip. It’s a busy intersection for Sierra Springs residents — and one that a lot of people use daily to get in and out of those businesses.

What Does This Mean for Traffic?

Once the lights are up, they should improve traffic flow for anyone trying to turn back onto Main Street from those areas — especially during busy morning and evening hours. Right now, making a left turn out of that Co-Op area can be a frustrating wait.

During the installation period, expect some periodic lane closures and construction delays near the intersection. If you regularly pass through Sierra Springs, it’s worth building in a bit of extra time until the work is complete.
