Midtown | Airdrie Neighbourhoods

Many people are attracted to Midtown for its convenient location and rare sense of openness, making it the perfect urban oasis for growing families. Located right on the east side of 8th street and an equal distance south of Veterans and north of Yankee Valley Boulevard. You can be sure you’ll get to wherever you’re going quickly, whether making a trip east to mainstreet, north to superstore, or south to Walmart.

Residents here have quick access to Midtown’s very own plaza, which plays host to large retailers such as Tim Hortons, Panago Pizza, and a Co-Op gas station, as well as other small professional offices. There are also a number of shops and grocery stores that line 8th Street and are a walkable distance away, some of which include Creekside Crossing where you can find Sobeys and a ton of great local restaurants.

The neighbourhood itself is situated on over 90 acres with diverse parks, greenspaces, and walking trails. Right at the front of the neighbourhood is a large pond and distinct pedestrian bridge. You are also extremely close to Iron Horse Park, a miniature railway that offers train rides replicating a journey through parts of Canada and is a common event location during holidays. One thing to keep in mind is that Midtown does border the actual train tracks here in Airdrie, so just something to consider as there will be train noise close by.

Also just a short walk away is Airdrie’s Nose Creek Park. This area includes a trout stocked pond, lots of walking paths, Nose creek running through it, an event & concession area, parks for the kids, an outdoor stage and pickle ball courts!

Midtown offers a variety of homes that are meant to bridge the gap between the mainly detached family homes of Luxstone to the south and the multi-family dwellings of Mackenzie Pointe to the north. You really can’t miss the modern white, orange, and black townhomes that mark the entrance of Midtown or the rock “rivers” that are scattered throughout the front yards of various homes here.

One of the most unique features of Midtown is that building here started in 2016. Most new communities are on the outskirts of the city, but Midtown is right smack dab in the middle. There were some development delays that took about a decade to work through, which now gives us this unique opportunity to have a new home, in the middle of the city.

Detached homes started being built around 2016, with plenty of construction still to come in the community by Shane Homes, Trico Homes, and Wave Homes. Shane Homes is currently advertising their duplexes from the $450’s, front drive homes from the $590’s, and laned homes from the $480’s. Trico Homes has their front drive homes starting at $600,000 and laned homes at $500,000. As for resale homes, you can expect to pay anywhere from $420,000 for the row homes all the way up to the $530,000 range for the duplexes, and in the $550-$600s for detached homes.

There are no established schools in Midtown owing to its small size. However, there are a number of schools within a short distance that are already built. Kids grade K-4 will attend Ralph McCall School, kids grade 5-8 will attend C.W. Perry School, and kids grade 9-12 will attend Bert Church High School.

In my opinion, Midtown is a great place to call home no matter what stage of life you’re in. If you like newer, cosy contemporary finishes and want to be in walking range to everything Airdrie has to offer, Midtown may be the place for you.
