The affordable neighbourhood of Luxstone can be found on the northeast corner of Yankee Valley Boulevard and 8th Street, with a portion of the area backing onto the railway tracks and bordering Main Street.
Because Luxstone is so centrally located, residents get easy access to the highway for a quick commute to Calgary and tons of nearby shopping options. The closest large shopping area is the Sierra Springs shopping center, which includes retail stores such as Walmart, Home Depot, and Winners. You'll be able to pick up all the essentials, check out tasty restaurants, or take advantage of the conveniences on Main Street as as well.
Luxstone itself does have a small commercial area at the edge neighbourhood called Luxstone Plaza, that features a 7-Eleven gas station and a few restaurants like pizza, Vietnamese, and bubble tea. You'll also find a few other stores and businesses, and one of Airdrie’s top rated music & dance academies, Ambition Performing Arts.

Outdoor amenities are not far away, the closest being Nose Creek Park, which is connected to Luxstone, and accessible by the recently renovated walking tunnel under the train tracks. Here you’ll find lots of walking paths, a trout stocked pond, parks, pickle ball courts, a concession area, and even an outdoor theatre. Events happen year round in this park, ranging form car shows, family events, and Airdrie’s festival of lights!
You are also just a short distance away from Chinook Winds Park, the 55 acre outdoor recreation hub in Airdrie with the skatepark, playgrounds, water park, ball diamonds, beach volleyball, and much more! We can't forget about the pond right in Luxstone where you’ll find more walking paths, bird watching in the summer, and skating rinks in the winter!
Luxstone has a great senior living option named Luxstone Senior Living, where retirees can can enjoy a more standard apartment or be provided with assisted living. This is one of only a handful of facilities in Airdrie that are catered for the elderly.
If you want to know how much homes are selling for in a specific neighbourhood, I provide a FREE monthly market report sent out by email. Click the button below to go fill out my market update request form!
For homes in the community, there are mostly detached properties, with a few duplexes and townhomes. These properties started being built back in 2001, and the final homes in the neighbourhood were built in 2012. So, in general you’re going to see older style finishes here, unless they’ve been renovated. We are getting to that age in the neighbourhood now though, where we're seeing more and more get renos getting done!
The price for a townhome in the area right now is anywhere from the mid $200’s and up to just over the $300k mark for the nicer units. Duplexes currently are ranging from $375,000 to $425,000, and expect to pay between $400k to $600k for a detached home.
There’s a big range in the detached homes because there are smaller starter lane homes, large family homes with triple attached garages, and everything in between!
For those of you with kids in school, kids grade K-4 will attend Nose Creek Elementary School, which is located in Bayside just west of Luxstone, kids grade 5-8 will attend Muriel Clayton School, which is closer to older Airdrie, in the neighbourhood of Airdrie Meadows, and kids grade 9-12 will attend W.H. Croxford High School, just on the SW corner of Luxstone, across Yankee Valley Boulevard.
So, for the younger kids in elementary & middle school, it won't be as walkable as you may want, both being about a 20-30 minute walk, but the high school is very close. If your kids will be in catholic school, you’ll find St. Veronica Elementary south of Luxstone in Coopers Crossing, and St. Martin High School is actually right in Luxstone!
In my opinion, Luxstone is a great place to call home for all walks of life. Whether you’re single, raising a family, or enjoying your retirement years, there are plenty of things to do and love in and around Luxstone.
