Lanark | Airdrie Neighbourhoods

You’ll find Lanark in the deep southeast corner of Airdrie, just south of Yankee Valley Boulevard & east of Kings Heights and Ravenswood. Lanark is a new community here in Airdrie and it’s designed to accommodate an active outdoor lifestyle with kilometres of pathways connecting the community to ponds, pergolas, parks, playgrounds, picnic areas, fire pits, and even an outdoor amphitheater. In fact, every single person in the neighbourhood will be able to walk to a playground within 400 metres of their home.

In Scotland, the term "Lanark" means a clear space or glade. So, with that in mind, Lanark was created to have plenty of environmental features, including an innovative stormwater management system. Did you know that there is also a city in Scotland named Airdrie!?

Residents will be able to enjoy baseball diamonds, basketball courts, and multiple soccer fields. A pump track is also currently being built, which is a circuit of rollers, banks, and turns for bike riders to flow through, "pumping" along the hills to gain momentum. They say it's going to be a great thing for the kids in the area, but I think we’ll see plenty of adults having a blast on this as well.

The community does have plans for a public school, but for now kids grade K-5 will attend Heloise Lorimer School which is just in the adjacent neighbourhood of Kings Heights. Students from grade 6-8 will go to Meadowbrook Middle School, and your high schoolers from grades 9-12 will be at Bert Church High School.

As for amenities nearby, all your daily needs are found just a short drive away to Kingsview Market, which includes a variety of restaurants, banks, health and wellness services, grocery stores, and hardware stores. It’s also a quick trip to Sierra Springs shopping centre just on the other side of the Highway 2.

The nice thing with being on the east side of Airdrie is that Genesis Rec Center is also only a 5 minute drive north. That’s our large rec center here in Airdrie where there’s all sorts of activities, from swimming pools, ice rinks, gymnasiums, pickle ball courts, gymnastics, a fitness center, and much more.

Lanark is also only a 10 minute drive to Calgary and will soon be serviced by the interchange at 40th Avenue and Highway 2, which is currently under construction and will provide Lanark with some of the most convenient access to and from Calgary in Airdrie.

Another perk to living on this corner of town is the ability you have to take advantage of the back roads leading you to Cross Iron Mills Mall and Costco. Doing this can keep you off the main highway, and get you to those $1.50 hot dogs in just a few minutes time.

They started building in 2020 and have townhomes from the low $400,000s. Similar to a couple other neighbourhoods here in Airdrie, like Windsong & Hillcrest, the townhomes here do not have a condo fee! Duplexes are currently priced from the high $400,000s, lane homes from the low $500,000s, and front drive homes from the $600,000s. The builders in the neighbourhood right now are Homes By Avi, Castellano Custom Homes, McKee Homes, Sterling Homes, and Douglas Homes.

Now, there will be an HOA fee here, and it's estimated to be about $100 per year. Similar to the neighbouring community of Kings Heights, this HOA fee will be used for additional maintenance and hopefully for some family events in the area.

I would recommend Lanark to anyone who is in search of plenty of amenities for their family, wants easy access to them, and likes new modern homes. Here, you’re positioned well to be minutes away from those amenities in Airdrie, while being nice and close to the big city of Calgary.
