Woodside | Airdrie Neighbourhoods

The community of Woodside is based around the Woodside Golf Course in the NW of Airdrie, which is actually the only golf course within the city. It's a great area, full of fun things to do. If you like to golf, you'll certainly have plenty to enjoy, but there are also restaurants and shopping options close by.

It’s a short drive from Airdrie city center, which gives the area quick access to almost everything the city has to offer. You also have a short trip to the businesses that line 8th Street. You can also head north or south to the bigger shopping areas. There are no commercial areas directly in Woodside other than the golf course amenities, which can be a perk as it adds to the quiet nature of the neighbourhood.

Even if you're not a golfer, you can still appreciate the parks and green spaces all around you, and enjoy the beauty of nature. There are also lots of soccer fields to run around in just across 1st Avenue, a hockey rink that doubles as a pickle ball court in the summer, and some community gardens. For playgrounds there is only 1 small playground within the neighborhood, but schools are close enough to use their playgrounds as well.

Being in the northwest and towards the edge of the city means less congestion and traffic, as well as easy access to the backroads around Airdrie. Woodside is definitely a comfortable community to live in. Being one of the older areas, that means you’ll find larger lots and wider roads in here compared to the newer areas.

The most unique feature of Woodside, is the emphasis on adult & senior living here in the neighbourhood. There are 3 townhouse complexes within Woodside, 2 of which are adult only (19+), and the other is strictly 50+. There is also a 50+ condo building and 50+ detached homes.

Coupled with the golf course, that makes this area great for seniors or if you just want a higher percentage of adults in the neighbourhood. There is also a seniors club that hosts various events throughout the year!

Now, the neighbourhood isn’t all adult only, and there are plenty of families still in the other areas. So, if you have school aged kids, there is a catholic elementary school in the neighbourhood at the south edge that goes from kindergarten to grade 9. As for the public schools, kids from kindergarten to grade 4 will go to Ralph McCall School, which is just across 1st ave from Woodside to the south. Kids from grade 5-8 will be at C.W. Perry School, which is a bit further south and west into the neighbourhood of Sagewood. Kids grade 9-12 will attend Bert Church High School. This one the students will likely want to bus or drive to as it's on the other side of Airdrie across the highway.

The neighbourhood was built out from 1987 up until 2004, so the homes here will have an older style to them for sure, unless they’ve been renovated inside. For those 50+ condos, they very rarely come up for sale, maybe 2-3 per year, but they’ll be in the $200,000-$250,000 dollar range right now. Townhouses in the neighbourhood can be anywhere between $300,000-$450,000. The detached homes in the area can range anywhere from the high $400’s for the smaller starter homes, all the way up to nearly $700,000 for the bigger homes backing onto the golf course.
