What Does a Starter Home in Airdrie’s Midtown Look Like in the Low $500s?
565 Midtown Street SW is a 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom semi-detached home in Airdrie’s Midtown community, offering 1,510 sq ft above grade with an attached garage, central air conditioning, a five-piece ensuite, upper-floor laundry, and a south-facing backyard — all priced in the low $500s. It’s one of the more complete packages available at this price point in Airdrie right now.

If you’ve been searching for a newer-build home in Airdrie with some of the features you’d normally only find in higher price ranges — think central AC, a five-piece ensuite, upper laundry — this one is worth a close look.
565 Midtown Street SW sits in the heart of Airdrie’s Midtown community, and it checks a lot of boxes that buyers in the low $500s don’t always find together in a single property.
Location: Newer Build, Central Access
Midtown is one of those communities that genuinely earns the name. It’s a newer neighbourhood, so you get that clean, contemporary feel — but it sits right in the middle of the city, which means you’re not driving 10 minutes just to grab groceries or get the kids to school.
That combination of newer construction with central Airdrie access is harder to find than most buyers expect. A lot of the newer developments in Airdrie are on the edges — Southwinds, Cobblestone Creek, Cooper’s Crossing. Midtown gives you the best of both.
Main Level: Kitchen, Dining, and Living Room
The kitchen comes with a gas stove — an upgrade that a lot of buyers at this price point have to give up, so it’s nice to see it here. You’ve also got quartz countertops, a good amount of cabinet space, and a pantry that actually gives you room to store things properly.
The dining area and living room are both on the back of the home, which means they’re south-facing. That matters. Natural light pours into this main level all day, and those rooms open onto the backyard.
See the kitchen at 0:45 — the gas stove and countertop space show well.
And then there’s the AC. This home has central air conditioning, which is still not a given in Airdrie homes at this price. You’re getting the natural light from the south-facing exposure without having to sacrifice the comfort of a cool house in July and August.
Brad mentions the central AC at 1:28 — it’s a meaningful spec in Alberta summers.
Upper Level: Where This Home Really Delivers
The upper floor is where this property earns its price point.
The primary bedroom is at the back of the home — south-facing, with a window that pulls in a lot of natural light and more than enough room for a king bed plus furniture.
Then there’s the ensuite. A five-piece ensuite with double sinks — and not just double sinks side by side, but two genuinely separated sink areas — plus a walk-in closet. In a duplex-style home in the low $500s, that’s a spec you don’t always see. Most properties at this price have a three-piece or four-piece ensuite. See the ensuite at 1:51.
The two secondary bedrooms are good-sized — the kind of rooms that work for kids, a home office, or guests. Both have full-size closets. One has an oversized window on the north side that keeps the room bright even without a south-facing exposure.
And critically: upper-floor laundry. It’s one of those features that buyers often don’t prioritize until they’ve lived without it — and then they’ll never go back. Your laundry is on the same floor as your bedrooms. Brad points this out at 2:19.
Basement: Unfinished, But More Useful Than You’d Expect
The basement is unfinished, which is reflected in the price. But there are two things worth noting.
First, there’s a bathroom rough-in already in place. When you’re ready to develop the basement, you’re not starting from scratch on the plumbing — that’s money saved.
Second, it’s a good open-concept layout with windows. It’s the kind of basement you can actually use before you develop it — workout space, play area, storage. It doesn’t feel like a dark, unusable hole.

The Backyard
South-facing, which means it’s sunny throughout the day. The deck is oversized with a two-tier design — a main level and a lower tier that steps down into the yard. There’s good grass space, and planter beds run around the perimeter of the lot. It’s a functional, usable backyard that doesn’t need a full renovation to enjoy.
